Every single personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, along with any applications that are present on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each application runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages feature three Linux distributions that you can pick from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being absolutely free, the OSs are extremely stable and secure and the key reason to offer you the 3 of them is to make sure that you can run any kind of application that you'd like, as different pieces of software may have different requirements regarding the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a large community of web developers who have generated thousands of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to handle your website hosting content. Also, should you decide that you need another OS, we can always re-install the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page since we want to give you a broader choice with regard to the system environment on the server as different apps can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and secure web hosting service. Depending on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you've selected in the beginning doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you would like to run. We can also update the OS regularly to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
